Charity Zisengwe

The First Place Winner of the 2006 Songwriting Competition at the Babbie Mason Music Conference International, Charity Zisengwe’s (pronounced “Zee-SANK-way”) journey with God has always been a ride on the edge of her seat. God constantly throws her to the deeper end of the pool. While the “pools” vary from situation to situation, from time to time, this season has been no different. With the release of her second project, titled AMAZING, God has taken this intercessor, speaker and singer-songwriter on a journey of faith.

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Charity comes from a Christian family where godly values were instilled in her from childhood. But, when God wants to use a person, He often takes them on a uniquely carved path to train them for a particular cause. Through her experiences with God, He has raised for Himself a woman who has a passion for Him and an uncompromising stance on whom she has believed.

“Sometimes we see God as a ‘special events’ God, whom we seek when we want something special to happen, or celebrate when something special has happened,” shares Charity as she explains how she came to write her first radio single.  “But God is for everyday life, and He lives with everyday people. I wrote the song ‘More Than Enough’ to celebrate God for the way He is involved in my everyday life. I have seen that God is with me when I am going through hard times. He is there when I am having a time of my life. Even when it seems as though nothing is happening at all in my life, He is there. He is with me even in those times when it seems I am lost in the ordinary, where I wake up in the morning and go to sleep at night and no one, including myself, seems to notice. This ‘Everyday God’ is more than enough for every situation. When He is present, He covers everything plus extra. He is more than enough.”

By the way, Charity mentioned that the unfamiliar words in the bridge of “More Than Enough” like “Hulelele Hey yah Hey yah, hey yah mama” are just filler words like “la la la” or “oh, oh, oh.”

The AMAZING project was produced by Sonny Lallerstedt, a worship leader at North Metro Church in Marietta, GA. The project is packed with songs from Charity’s heart. She pens her lyrics from her experiences in life and as you listen to line by line, through each song, you hear the times she has cried, laughed, sang, prayed, and those times when nothing seems to be happening.  There are worship moments and grieving moments and everything in between.  A dynamic speaker, gifted self-harmonizing singer and award winning songwriter, Charity penned all 11 new songs that are packed with soul stirring lyrics woven into powerful melodies and infectious harmonies.

Charity founded an a cappella trio in high school, which subsequently grew to a mass choir of more than 50 richly harmonized voices. Her gift of music has opened doors for her to share the word of God through speaking engagements. She has been invited to sing and/or speak at Women’s events, private events, church services and conferences.

Charity has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (Marketing) from Montclair State University (NJ), and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from The Chartered Institute of Marketing (London) UK.

Most people who commit sin, wish they could beat their bad habits. They continue with those habits because they are slaves of sin and they   cannot deliver themselves!
